One of our key priorities is to elevate and motivate women as they are building their career in strategy consulting
Eden McCallum is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace, as we believe that this is key to building and fostering excellent teams and delivering high quality solutions to our clients.
Therefore, one of our key priorities is to elevate women by offering support, guidance and encouragement while they are building their career and motivate women by creating a network of ambitious, like-minded women with an interest in strategy consulting.
Why did we introduce FEMME?
With over fifty percent of Eden McCallum's leadership being comprised of women, we are eager to encourage young women to enter the world of strategy consulting and remove the barriers that are preventing them from applying.
Research has shown that, on average, men apply for a job when they meet 60% of the qualifications...
...while women apply for a job only when they meet 100% of the qualifications
Despite this being a popular belief, the main reason for women not to apply is not a lack of confidence in their ability to perform well within the job. According to research from Harvard Business Review, almost eighty percent of women's reasons for not applying have to do with believing that the job qualifications are the minimum requirements to even be considered as a candidate. Many women apply only if they check every single box, because they do not want to waste their own or the interviewer's time. At Eden McCallum, we would love to hear from anyone who believes that they are a good candidate for the job.
Thus, to encourage more women to start a career in strategy consulting, we created FEMME. Our female mentorship programme is aimed at female students looking to grow both professionally and personally. Through bimonthly mentor meetings and several events, we hope to provide support, guidance, encouragement, and an inspiring network of women in consulting.
To support women in the workplace and allow them to thrive, we offer regular training, mentorship, career growth opportunities, flexibility and equal pay. The flexible model that we advocate and offer the independent consultants in our network also applies to those that work within the firm, enabling our colleagues to pursue additional interests or spend time with their loved ones.
